"Zippy Bee's" story ....

This is a story that I wouldn't have believed if it wasn't about me! I was real happy to see your website, and to read your story. People need to know about this, as it is an invisible crippler. Very similar to mine, but yours is a bit more advanced.

Here's what happened to me ...

About the time I hit 45 I started have lots of problems physically. I quit smoking for one, thinking maybe that was it. I'm sure it must have had something to do with it, but that probably wasn't the main problem.

My back started failing, constant pain, couldn't lay or sit comfortably and so on. Left shoulder was next, it gave up the ghost and I couldn't sleep on that side, or even use that arm more than about waist hi. After that the knees started not holding me up anymore intermittently. My physician had me on a routine of Vicodin, (1500 mg for starters daily, more if needed) and 40 mg of Valium a day for muscle relaxants. It worked, I was so rubbery I couldn't hardly stand up. This was interesting for the first two days, then it got scary and very annoying to be incapacitated.

A good friend of mine came over and had me take 1500 mg of Coral Calcium a day for about three months. I  cut my amount down to 1000 a day after that. I took it for one year. I don't take meds any more, I exercise, work around the yard, hold a fulltime job and there isn't really much I don't dig in and do nowadays.

Don't get me wrong here. There is still lots I have to be careful about. Slowly turning my head, not quickly. Not picking up things heavier than common sense would say. I am still in pain, but its manageable now. I am alert and conscious. I don't take it every day anymore, but I do take it a couple times a week.

I'm no doctor. I have no medical training. I just wanted to let you know this worked for me.
There will come a day when I am on the meds daily. I know this. I am prepared for this. But until then, I manage my pain this way.
Maybe it will work for others in the early stages of this disease.

Thank you, "Zippy Bee""
